My Active Holiday

Did you have a good Thanksgiving Holiday? I took off to spend the week near Snow Canyon State Park in Utah. It was a very very A-C-T-I-V-E vacation!

And I loved every minute of it. Even when I wiped out on my bike going off road in the sand - it was fun! Doing things I had never done or rarely done. Challenging myself. Feeling strong.

Thanksgiving Day Hike - 2015
It was the perfect way to celebrate the year.

This shot above was from our last hike of the week. Scrambling up and over the sandstone to watch the sunrise into the canyon. Breathtaking (multiple meanings :) )

Onto the numbers for the week...

Not only was I able to stick to my nutrition plan. I hit a high in terms of hours working out per day - that's on average 3.7 hours! Plus the most wonderful part about it was that I wasn't sore at all. Thanks to some great stretching out and massages!  I am estimating that I lost 2 pounds this week - will probably play a bit of catch-up when I really weigh in at the club on Thursday.

Check that out - average daily steps of nearly 25K!!! WOW

Looking at it from a different perspective - with all the hiking up the mountains - I averaged 58 flights of stairs a day (this is going up only, my app doesn't count down as work.)

That's one active holiday. I'll have to search for the next adventure because I really enjoyed this one.

only 5 pounds from 100 pound loss!

This morning I pulled on my dress slacks to decide that they were too big - that's a size 12 that doesn't fit. It's a good day.

I can do this!

  1. What a fantastic idea to go on such an active vacation. A holiday can be a great opportunity to use your time off effectively and get some extra workouts in, it can really boost your mental and physical health. Exercising outdoors in the fresh air also helps you reconnect with nature, which is very important.
